spending time with yourself is one of the most loving actions that you can perform for your mind, body, and soul. Getting to know yourself is the hardest thing ever because we are so caught up in the people and the world around us that we often forget about ourselves.
Spend some time with yourself. Hike. Walk. Meditate. Take a bath. Have a spa Day. Play a sport. run. gym. get active in some sort of way. read. color. go to the beach. Do something where you spend time with yourself. When you do this "something" please do it without listening to music, a podcast, or something that is going to distract you from spending time with yourself. Listen to your thoughts and sit with them because that is when we create and have marvelous ideas.
Spending time with yourself can bring up emotions and can be overwhelming and that is ok. This is your mind telling you that you needed this. Embrace and be proud of those emotions because that makes you human and beautiful.
The other day I was on a hike by myself and it was breathtaking. The rock formations in the mountains, the view of the ocean, and being engulfed by the mountains towering over me made me emotional. I felt myself getting hocked up but I was so happy to be there that my body did not want to release those tears (not yet). After my hike, I went to the beach. As I was walking along where the saltwater meets the warm sand, I felt those same emotions come up and some tears fell down my cheeks while there was a huge smile on my face (yes at the same time). Later that day, I got into an argument with my family at dinner about a piece of bread and that is when my emotions exploded! Screaming, crying, cussing, and leaving the dinner table. It ended beautifully, me going outside and crying in my mom's arms and explaining how I felt, then eventually coming back to the table to eat as a family.
when you first feel an emotion, let it out. If you start to feel, explain yourself, express, and speak up because if you do not, then all those emotions that you were holding back are going to come out at once and it could be over something silly (a slice of bread). Love your emotions, let them be set free, do not be scared of them, they are what make you unique.
